Woodworking Was Messy, Leathercraft Is Magic

Hi, I’m Nick, the man behind Coastline Leather Goods. My journey to leathercraft is seemingly random. It started with a deep desire to build a cabin in the woods. Call it a midlife crisis. After Zillow shopping plots of land in California and realizing this dream might be a bit out of reach, I realized what I really wanted was to build. To create. So I turned to woodworking. For a couple years I loved making side tables, keepsake boxes and coffee tables. However, woodworking in insanely messy. I was constantly tracking sawdust all over the house. Plus, as a lifelong musician I never got over the fear of accidentally cutting one of my fingers off.

A leathercraft video came across one of my social media feeds. It wasn’t long before all my social media channels were serving me leathercraft content that I was absolutely loving. In early 2022 I bought some supplies and started my journey. By the end of 2022, Coastline was born.

As a teen and young adult, I poured my creative energy into playing in bands, chasing the thrill of live performance and connection. In my 20s, I shifted gears to filmmaking, immersing myself in storytelling and honing my craft behind the camera. By my 30s and 40s, I had established myself as a creative professional, working on projects that fused art and e-commerce.

Today, my happy place is in my home workshop, surrounded by the rhythm of life with my kids often at my side, I create simple, elegant, and functional designs. Using only the best, responsibly sourced high quality full-grain leather, my goal is to craft pieces that aren’t just accessories but heirlooms—items meant to be passed down for generations. Coastline Leather Goods is a reflection of my journey: rooted in creativity, driven by passion, focused on quality.
